CONGREGATION B'NAI ISRAEL
TUPELO, MS

Welcome to the B'Nai Israel website.

Temple B'Nai Israel welcomes all of the members and visitors to our website, which is being created in preparation for our upcoming semicentennial anniversary of the building of our formation.

Religious traditions

Congregation B'nai Israel attempts to uphold a long tradition of Southern Jewry.  With congregants hailing from the local area, Chicago, New York, and points between, and with theological backgrounds equally diverse, we try to maintain a service and style with wide appeal.  Hebrew makes up a large portion of the service than in many Reform congregations; however, there are translations as part of the Siddur, and there are many congregants who do not speak Hebrew at all.

Too small to have a full time Rabbi, services are typlically led by a knowledgeable layman, with cantor accompaniment during the high holidays and during other selected services.

Services are held weekly at 8:00pm on Friday evening, with the exception of the first Friday of each month.  On the Saturday after the first Friday, services are held at 10:00am Saturday morning -- with a Lox & Bagel breakfast at 9:00am.  There is a small charge for the breakfast, which maybe paid in advance or the day after.
